Outbreak Monkey Virus

How is it a cold can be passed around the house like what my husband would call the "outbreak monkey virus"? My son started getting sick on Monday, now he is feeling better and now I have his cold. Not to mention my daughter just got up and said, she thinks she has Adam's cold too, she can't breathe.
So, here I am blogging at 12:52 am, because when my head hits the pillow it feels like someone just stuffed to bananas up my nose and my head feels like it's going to split in half.

I am totally amazed, I searched for someone with bananas stuck up their nose and I couldn't find one and I thought they said you could find everything on the internet. Well, I just stumped them.

I don't know what is worse, sitting up with your body aching just so you can breathe or laying in bed and not being able to fall asleep because you can't breathe and pressure from your sinus' is killing your head.

I just laid there in bed for an hour wishing I could fall asleep and thinking how good a cup of hot tea would feel on my dry scratchy throat.

Doggie Love

Mr. Max is enjoying the kids being on winter break from school. He has been attached at the hip with my youngest, Sammy since she has been on break. He has been in her room with her all day laying in bed and watching TV.  His poor little heart is going to broken when she goes back to school because he's not going to be able to spend every waking moment with her.

He is so funny because she can get him to do things we can't get him to do. He hangs on to her every word and does what she says. They say dogs don't understand what we say, they listen to our tone and use word association. But, I'm not to sure about that. I think they pick and choose what they what to do and who they do  it for.

Wacky Wednesday- People Caught Doing Their Business In Public

I don't know how she expected to pull that one off.

Fergie having an accident on stage

Maybe this runner should have skipped the race that day.

I wonder who pissed him off.

Really, he didn't think that one would get caught on camera.

Now, that just take guts to squat and take a pee right
in front of everyone.

Racism On The Rise In Your Backyard

Spokane County, WA is in the news again for their hate crimes. What is it about Spokane County that they have so many race hate crimes?

A 19 year old man, Deven James-Allen Hood is accused of smashing car windows and beating people on what police allege as a hate fueled drive through in Spokane County on January 20, 2012.

Police say Hood through something at a truck driving through the intersection and then punched the driver. When the victim got out to confront the driver, Martinez said his assailant repeatedly called him a derogatory term for Hispanic people.

Then later that night, a woman, Jaylean Tayloe, went outside her home on Cedar Street and she saw three men attempting to steel her truck. The three men who were later identified and Hood, his 15 year old brother and his half brother attacked her. Two men followed Hood and his brothers and while they were headed back to a home on Cedar, Hood and his brothers shouted racial slurs out the window about black people.

Hood and his brothers were arrested for the charges, but were later released because no charges were filed.

According to a piece done by Bill Morlin, for the Spokesman Review, there has been in increase in hate crimes and racist activity in Spokane County and pacific northwest communities, even throughout the United States. Morlin reports, there has been a spike in hate crimes since the election of President Obama. According to Morlin, not only is there a spike in hate crimes since the 2008 election, there is a rise in secret anti-government militia.

“This trend is on the rise,” Spokane-based Assistant U.S. Attorney Earl A. Hicks said of recent hate crimes in the region. “What I would tell you is, it’s a bunch of thugs, and they’re dangerous individuals.
“The difference today is this activity is domestic terrorism,” Hicks said, “and the FBI pays attention to this kind of thing more than it did in the late 1970s, early ’80s.”

Some contribute the rise in hate crimes to the change in the classifications of crimes and some contribute the rise in hate crimes to the election of a black president in 2008. But, what we do know is there is a major war going on between the two top Arian Nation leaders in Idaho, Gerald O’Brien and Paul Mullet and there is a war between the two top competing Arian websites.

Whatever, the reason may be for the rise in hate crimes, the truth of the matter is the problem still does exist and it's not going away any time soon until our government figures out how to crack down on them. One factor I have noticed is there seems to be a rise in the number of young adults and teens who commit hate crimes.

The government and police can do there job at cracking down on these types of offenders, but it is also our job as parents to guide our children and teach them compassion and understanding. Some parents are fully aware of the racist attitude they are passing on to there children and some parents don't even realize they are passing a racism on to their children with the comments they make towards other races.

The United States is a melting pot of different races. The scary part about it is you may think you won't fall into the non-white category by the Arian Nation. But, when they look at you they see tan skin, olive skin, or they are looking at the shape of your eyes and see you as being non-white or you may have a name that doesn't sound white enough for them and may fall victim to a hate crime.

I think a lot of people just have the attitude of "What can I do about it?" Well, there is something you can do about it as a parent. You can be aware of what you say around your children and how you raise your children. Your children are key members of the next generation. You have to look at the big picture of things and raise your child to be compassionate and empathetic individuals. Teach your children racism is wrong. By not teaching them racism is wrong, your not taking a stand against racism with your children. You are leaving the topic of racism open to them to form their own opinions, which may become tainted by other factors in society.

Children are born with a blank slate. They are born with the ability to love unconditionally until adults taint their thinking and mold them into images of ourselves. We as parents play a bigger role in the future of racism than we think we do.

Sibling Rivalry

Being a mother can be so challenging at times. My 11 year old daughter and 12 year old son have there own personal war going on, that no one else seems to get. It starts in the morning before school, after school and continues on until someone or both ends up going to bed early. They have a very difficult time being in the same room with one another without picking at one another, instigating arguments, or doing something intentionally to make the other one angry.

It is so obvious their intentions when they do something to one another that they are doing it to make the other one angry. They will sit and listen when one of them speaks, waiting for the opportunity to pounce or they will do something they know will make the other angry and walk away with a smirk on their face.

It is driving me insane, I find myself repeating the same thing overs and over again through out the day, everyday! For example, if one of them wants to get on the computer when one is getting off. They intentionally log off anyway and say they didn't hear them. When we know they did, because they made a smart comment to the other one. Well, not only are they making the other one angry. They are making me angry right along with them, because I am constantly mediating between the two and when they log off I have to go log the other one back on because it is password protected.

We do everything between the two of them exactly even to make sure no one feels like the other gets more attention or more of anything. I always make everything even between all of my children including my adult child who lives on her own. I always do my very best to treat them all the same. I love all of my children the same and I am a strong believer in treating your children equally. I spend the same on them right down to the dollar and spend time with them equally and give them equal attention. A lot of their problems stems from their father, who does not treat them equally and I don't know how to stop what he has created.

I have tried everything with these two to try and stop the bickering from them losing privileges, grounding them, sending them to bed early, talking to them telling them why they shouldn't argue so much to even time out. Nothing is working. Any suggestions?

Should Boys Participate In The Valentine's Day Celebration At School?

While driving in my car this morning listening to Mojo in the Morning, they were discussing should boys participate in the Valentine’s Day celebration in school exchanging valentines. Apparently, a parent one of the hosts knows, doesn't think his son who is 10, should participate in exchanging valentines at school because it is something only girls do.

In my opinion, I really don't think it is going psychological damage a boy exchanging valentines in school. Let him pick out the Valentine’s Day cards, so he picks the ones he likes. I think not allowing him to participate in school activities will do more harm than allowing him to participate. The poor boy is going to feel left out while everyone is passing out valentines, he will just be sitting in his seat angry at his father for not allowing him to participate. I look at it this way, you’re not sending him to school in a dress and if you have to work that hard at being masculine, your questioning your own masculinity.

What is your opinion? Do you think boys should participate in the exchanging valentines at school when they are young?

Happy Valentines Day

Please Slow Down

As I am dropping my son off at school, I find myself getting very irritated with some of the other parents dropping their children off. Some of the parents drive way too fast going through the school parking lot. They don't even pay attention if a child is opening a car door or getting out of a car. It makes me want to get out of the car and say something to these parents. This is not an occasional problem this a daily problem while dropping him off and picking him up.

You look back to see if any cars are coming and there is nothing, then all of sudden your child starts opening the door and here comes a car flying by. You would think they would be a little more cautious considering they are dropping their child off too.

Last week, I had a parent honk their horn at me because apparently they felt I should of went instead of waiting for a bus to go.

Be Honest With Me

In the past couple of months, I have noticed some companies are not being completely truthful with you when you ask them questions or their employees are just flat out incompetent. It seems like they will try and sell you a pot of gold at the end of rainbow just to get you to buy something. One thing that really makes me angry is someone lying to me just to make a sale. It is my money, so I expect them to be honest with me and let me make my own decision.

Recently, I purchased new cell phones for myself and my kids. The salesman told me, if I purchase an HTC I would get three months free of internet and I had a rebates for all three lines. After I received my bill, I called T-Mobile and they said no such offer of free internet exists or has ever existed. Then the salesman added insurance to all three lines when I told him I only wanted insurance on my line. Then to top it off, he gave me the wrong rebate form to fill out and they rejected my rebate. So, when I call T-Mobile's rebate center the employee filled out a new rebate form. Well, of coarse it is difficult anymore to find an employee who actually listens to you when your talking. She filled out the form over the phone. When I got the rebate card in the mail it was only for $20.00. The rebate should have been for $90.00, she only filled out the rebate for one line. So, of course I had to contact T-Mobile again. We will see what their response is now.

Secondly, I called H & R Block regarding having our taxes done. I asked the employee about the rapid refund,  he told me yes we still have it, but we just call it something else. I asked him "How long will it take to get our refund back?" He told me one to two days. So, I set up the appointment and when we get there and ask her about it, rapid refund no longer exists. The standard is two weeks, which is the same we could have done on Tax Act and paid less money to do.

What it all boils down to, is I am tired of people lying to me to get me to purchase something. Things are getting down right ridiculous. I think companies are hurting for business and will stop at nothing to get you to buy something. They act like you are stupid and are not going to figure out they lied to you. I am on the verge of going off on one of these sales employees who lie to me to get me to purchase something.

We all need a little chuckle on Friday. Answer the Silly Survey Questions in the comment section. Be sure to number your answers, so we know which questions your answering.

2. When the ground hog sees his shadow, Do you think he's goes back inside because he's angry that some weird human in a top hat just pulled him out of his cozy hole or do you think he goes back in because he's depressed and doesn't want to come back out for another 6 weeks?

3. Do you think a doctor's office is called a practice?

4. Does condensed milk come from smaller cows?

5. Why do we park on a driveway and drive on a parkway?

8. Why is a hornet called a hornet if it has no horns?

9. Why do they say "cold as hell" when it is supposed to be hot in hell?

10. Why do they say "your ass sucks buttermilk" when someone is not telling the truth, if your ass really can't suck buttermilk?

Replacing Those Dreaded Items

Anyone else have the bad habit of not replacing things until you absolutely have to? I am one those people. I hate having to replace rugs, curtains, comforters and throw pillows until I have to. Those items are so pricey. I just think they cost way more than they should. So, I use them until I get tired of looking at how worn they have become through out the years.

I hate throwing away rugs and comforters. In my house rugs and comforters get demoted. They will move from the living or a bedroom to a door rug if possible. The comforters get moved from the beds to the shelf for visitors then to moving blankets. You always need an old blanket to throw in the back of the truck anytime your moving something you don't want to scratch or that may get your car dirty.

Bed pillows are another one of those dreaded items to replace and I really couldn't tell you why. They are not very expensive, but I will use a pillow until I can longer take it and I have no choice but to replace it.

Don't get me wrong. I actually keep my house decorated very nice. I just hate spending the money to replace those items. It seems as though, they never last as long as they should with children in the house. But of course, nothing seems to last as long as they should with children in the house. Thank God, for income tax returns. Well, at least while you have children to claim as dependents. Once all your children grow up, the IRS will eat you alive.

Please Remove Shoes

One of my pet peeves that drives me absolutely nuts is someone walking in the house with their shoes on. I cringe and I can feel the stress building up every time some one walks into the house and doesn't remove their shoes at the door. Not only do shoes drag in so much dirt and mud, they are just so dirty and full of germs. Think about it, you walk out in the streets, sidewalks, parking lots and so on. You are stepping on where someone has spit and it has dried on the sidewalk, where people spit their gum, a dog has probably taken a pee where you have stepped and so much more. Then you walk into a house and drag all those germs all over the floor. When your having a barbecue or a party, it is understandable there is going to be a lot of people walking in and out with their shoes on. But, when your just walking into someone's house or apartment, please remove your shoes.

I am one of those people who has to mop when I know someone has walked through the house with their shoes on. Usually not right away, but I will mop the floors the next day. You would be surprised how dirty floors get from someone walking in a house with shoes on.

Off To The Grocery Store

I am off to the grocery store to see what good deals I can come home with. I absolutely hate doing the grocery shopping by myself. I think I have gotten a little spoiled always having someone to go with me.

The worst part about it is you have to lug all the groceries into the house and put them away. We go grocery shopping for two weeks, because it seems like we spend less money when we go once every two weeks. That and I absolutely hate grocery shopping. I hate spending so much money on food. But, it's a necessity and the grocery stores know that, so they keep raising the prices, making it harder and harder for families to buy food. If I didn't use coupons, I don't know what we would do. Our bill would be crazy. Even with the coupons, we are hit pretty hard after a trip to the grocery store.

They wonder why so many children don't eat as well as they should be. It's mainly because it is so expensive to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. I would love to be able to buy more fresh fruits and vegetables. The stores just make it so expensive, that and schools are feeding them junk food during the day. So, when they come home they don't want to eat healthy food. My son is in middle school and he informed me yesterday, he has a choice of eating the schools daily lunch, hamburgers, pizza or tacos everyday. If you give them a choice of course they are going to go for the hamburgers, pizza or tacos. Which is irritating as a parent, because I am trying so hard to get him to eat other foods and he fights me all the way.

Then when you go to the grocery store, two days later the kids say' "I can't find anything to eat", even when the refrigerator and cabinets are full of food.

Today on Dr. Phil

I just finished watching Dr. Phil and I almost wish I hadn't watched it. Today, he had a girl on there who was rescued from her parents when she was eight years old. The little girl was severely physically and sexually abused. When she was discovered by a neighbor, she called the police to have the little girl removed from the home. When the police rescued her from her home, she was severely underweight, malnourished, had a blockage from eating wood, plastic, her own feces, dog food, and anything she could get her hands on. The poor little girl had to have reconstructive surgery to rebuild her vagina and rectum. She had tears and scars from her vagina to her rectum from being sexually abused by her parents and her parent's friends. Her parents would invite people over to have sex with her. If she made a sound or did not do what she was told, she was beaten and even threatened with a gun.

The story is horrifying. It makes you wonder how did they keep her as long as they did without anyone knowing she existed. It makes you wonder about the family members, the parents and the people who would participate in her abuse. The little girl was removed from the home when she was an infant, but the courts gave her back to her parents when she was two and she suffered the abuse from the time she was two years old until she was eight years old. Where was children services during those six years? I really hope whoever was supposed to be following up on the little girl lost her job and they should have went to prison with the parents.

By the time the show was over, I felt sick to my stomach from listening to the abuse the poor little girl endured for so many years. Too many people have the attitude of just minding their own business when they think that a child may be possibly be abused. I don't think anyone should ignore when they suspect a child is being abused. If there are signs of abuse or neglect, do the child a favor and report it.

Madonna's Halftime Show

I personally enjoyed the Superbowl halftime show by Madonna. I think she worked really hard to pull off an extravagant techno filled halftime show. She worked really hard to prove people wrong. I would have to say, she did her best to try and pull off one of the best Superbowl halftime shows. Imagine how much work she put into to put on a show like she put on a family friendly show. But, you will always have the people who will criticize the show simply because she's Madonna and there is always someone out there who likes to over analyze everything and pick everything apart. Hats off to her, I hope I can move that well when I'm 53 years old.

"Rape Tag" New Recess Game

As I was driving my daughter to the bus stop this morning, I was listening to the radio and they were discussing a new game kids in elementary school are playing, it's called "rape tag". The game is modeled after freeze tag, that the children say they learned of the game on Facebook. Kids are encouraged to tag one another by pulling on their body parts. To unfreeze someone playing the game, another participant has to hump the person who is froze. I was shocked to know that children at such a young age would play such a game. The game is disturbing as it is, but it was especially disturbing to know when I have an 11 year old in the 6TH grade and a 12 year old in the 7Th grade.

School administration in Minneapolis, (WCCO) at New Ulm Elementary caught almost two dozen 5TH graders playing the game at recess. A parent reported the game to school administration and the principal about the game being played at recess. The principal sprung into action immediately to try and put an end to the game. However, parents are upset because he didn't inform the parents about the game being played at recess.  A letter was sent home to the parents 20 days after the administration were made aware of the game.

It is just amazing what kids come up with. Last year, I heard my daughter and her friend in the basement singing a hand clapping chant about kissing boys, getting married, having twins with red hair and getting divorced. Well, we put an end to that one. At least hopefully we did. They just try to grow too fast.

I still blame part of the problem on the television shows the kids watch now a days. So, many of them portray children as not having any rules on the shows, being allowed to come and go as they please and being allowed to have boys or girls in their rooms. They portray them as little adults. We do our best to monitor what they watch. But, if you watch the shows on Nick or the Disney channel, that's how the majority of the shows are. The television producers don't stop and think what they are doing to this generation for one second and you think they would. Don't some of them have children, nieces and nephews too?

Sugar Regulated As A Toxin?

According to the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), sugar she be treated as a toxin and should be regulated the same as alcohol. We all know sugar is not good for your body or your teeth. But, I think regulating it the same as alcohol is a little excessive. Yes, many Americans have problems with obesity, but I really don't think it comes down to sugar. Sugar may play a role in the problem, but I think the main cause comes from so many Americans being on the run a lot and not taking the time to eat proper meals.

Americans eat too much fast food. Whether it be in the restaurants or from the frozen food isle.  There are bigger fish to fry than sugar. How about all the chemicals that are being added to our food, the chemicals that are being pumped into animals to produce larger animals or regulating the overseas manufacturers? No one seems to touch that topic. That may be because they don't want to make that many manufacturers angry. Huge amounts of artificial sodium and additives are added to frozen foods. So many Americans rely on frozen food and fast food restaurants to accommodate their busy schedule of work, picking up the kids from school and activities.

The part I do agree with is, the soda, Gatorade, candy bars and all the junk food should be removed from the schools. Sugar consumption should be left up to the parents. It really irritates when I am trying to limit my child's junk food consumption and they can go to school and buy soda, Twix bars and Gatorade. Even though they know they are not supposed to buy those types of things at school, they do it anyway, because they are children. Schools should promote healthier eating habits. Instead, they give them the option to load up on junk food while the parents are trying to limit the junk food.
