Meet Ruby

Photo: Ruby our new addition to the family.

We finally decided to get Max his baby, one that wouldn't be leaving him. We found our adorable little Ruby Thursday. We have Max, so we named her Ruby after the kids cartoon Max & Ruby. The name fits her, she is a little gem.

Max loves any little animal. Whenever they leave him he get's upset and won't eat, so we decided to get him a little friend for him to watch over. Since, we brought him little Ruby, he quit chewing on his feet. Wheaten Terriers were used to herd, watch and guard the sheep and farm animals. So, we thought maybe part of his anxiety problem is he doesn't have any animals to watch. So, we got him a little kitty cat to watch over and protect.

Max's New Baby

All weekend we heard a whining outside and we didn't know where it was coming from. Yesterday, the hubby went outside to check and see where the whining was coming from and discovered a baby squirrel in the back yard. Max had been wanting to go outside a lot and would not come in the house for hours at a time. He was laying in the grass in the same spot.  He was watching his baby. The only time we heard whining was when he was inside. The baby squirrel was calling for him. Max, our dog loves any kind of baby. He will watch it and protect it. He loves just about any animal smaller than him. He will take it on as his baby if they let him. He does the same thing anytime my parents bring their little Maltese over or our friends bring their little rat terrier over. He will share his food and water and the little dogs can do anything to him and he will just lay there and let them walk or climb on him or even pull his hair trying to get him up to play. When ever they make a sound, he will run to them to check on them.

We called someone from the local wildlife rescue and found someone to come and pick up the squirrel. Max went crazy when he saw the woman holding his baby. He was jumping and whining, trying to get outside to his baby. She said, he could come out and say goodbye to his baby. He went straight to the baby squirrel to sniff it and he tried licking his baby. She said we could name the baby since we found it. We decided to call him Max after his adoptive daddy. He sat on the living room couch looking out the window watching her pull away with his new baby. Poor Max, he lost another baby.

Eventful Holiday

I'm back, I took a short little break over the Easter Holiday to spend time with the family and my parents who came up for a visit from North Carolina.

We had a nice visit. We went to an antique mall. The kids really enjoyed the antique mall, seeing all the different  things from the past. Sammy was intrigued by the old rotary telephones. The first one she saw, she asked us "How do you use this phone?" Which was funny, you don't think about the old phones and people who have never seen a rotary phone have no idea how to work them. She went through the mall looking at the old dresses and on a scout for every old phone she could find. Adam was interested in all the old coke products memorabilia and the old police uniforms and weapons.

The kids got to go fishing with Grandpa and had a great time. Sammy lost a big fish and Adam caught one fish and threw it back in.

We had a very nice dinner with my family and my husbands mom. We all talked and laughed and had a great time. You have to love those holiday family dinners.

We took our parents out to dinner for their anniversary to the Bahama Breeze restaurant and had an excellent family dinner. It's a fun restaurant to go to with the live music and the Caribbean atmosphere and food.

My parents brought their little Maltese , so even Max (the dog) had a great time. He loves playing with the little dog. They are hilarious together because she is so little and he is so big. He lays on the floor and allows her to crawl all over him. She is mischievous, so the two became partners in crime. Max opened the refrigerator door and was eating the ham with little Lexi standing by watching. I wish I could have caught it camera. We have no idea how he opened the refrigerator door. We were all sitting in the living room watching t.v. when we heard a crash in the kitchen and there was Max with the plate of ham on the floor. Then later, he opened the lid on the trash can and got out a piece of foil with food on it and a paper plate for Lexi. He dropped a plate on the floor in front of her and he went under the table with the foil. They played tag in the backyard, the funny thing was he couldn't catch her.

Between the kids and dogs, we laughed a lot and had a great time.

Mommy Overload

Sometimes I think being a stay at home Mom is more stressful than working. The morning starts with trying to get the kids out of bed on time and mediating between the two kids who are at each other's throats every waking moment they cross paths through out the day. My children and dog are driving me up the wall. It has become so difficult to get everyone ready for school and out the door on time to get them to school and the dog has been having more anxiety issues than normal lately. This morning my son refused to get out of bed because I turned the light on. I turned the light on because he wasn't getting up and I told him, if he doesn't get up I am going to turn the light on. The funny thing is they have no clue why we get upset with them when we are repeatedly telling them to get out of bed, then we are rushing them to get ready and then driving fast to get them to school on time so I don't have to go in and sign him in for being late to school. I am half tempted to get a glass of water and dump it on him, because I'm tired of repeatedly telling him from 6:30 to 7:00 everyday to get out of the bed. He is 12 years old and goes to bed at 9:30, there is no reason why he can not get up in the morning. Even when I put him in bed 8:30 for misbehaving, he still doesn't get up on time.

I have no clue what a pampered dog can have anxiety issues over. He is stressing me out with his anxiety issues. He pulls his hair out and chews himself whenever I leave him. This morning when taking my son to school he pulled his hair out, because I wouldn't take him with me when I left. All week my son has been running late and I didn't have the time to take the dog with me to drop him off. When I came back from dropping him off at school, the dog had a pile of hair around him where he pulled the hair out of his legs for not taking him. He is on anxiety medication because he does this all the time when I leave him or when the kids leave him. I have to keep him in the same room with me all day to watch him. I would hate to do it, but if he doesn't stop soon I am going to have to get rid of him because he is killing us financially running him to the vet every couple of months. This month I couldn't go the doctor myself  to get my medication refilled because I had to take him to the vet for ear infections. He also digs his ears when he gets mad. Then he leaves scratches and they get infected and I end up taking him to the vet every 2 or 3 months for ear infections and his anxiety problems.

Today is one of those days where I just want to go back to bed and give up on today.

Kodak Moments

I had to get a picture of this. These two sleep like this every night. Sometimes I wonder if the Max knows he's a dog or if he thinks he is one of the kids.

Doggie Love

Mr. Max is enjoying the kids being on winter break from school. He has been attached at the hip with my youngest, Sammy since she has been on break. He has been in her room with her all day laying in bed and watching TV.  His poor little heart is going to broken when she goes back to school because he's not going to be able to spend every waking moment with her.

He is so funny because she can get him to do things we can't get him to do. He hangs on to her every word and does what she says. They say dogs don't understand what we say, they listen to our tone and use word association. But, I'm not to sure about that. I think they pick and choose what they what to do and who they do  it for.
