Eventful Holiday

I'm back, I took a short little break over the Easter Holiday to spend time with the family and my parents who came up for a visit from North Carolina.

We had a nice visit. We went to an antique mall. The kids really enjoyed the antique mall, seeing all the different  things from the past. Sammy was intrigued by the old rotary telephones. The first one she saw, she asked us "How do you use this phone?" Which was funny, you don't think about the old phones and people who have never seen a rotary phone have no idea how to work them. She went through the mall looking at the old dresses and on a scout for every old phone she could find. Adam was interested in all the old coke products memorabilia and the old police uniforms and weapons.

The kids got to go fishing with Grandpa and had a great time. Sammy lost a big fish and Adam caught one fish and threw it back in.

We had a very nice dinner with my family and my husbands mom. We all talked and laughed and had a great time. You have to love those holiday family dinners.

We took our parents out to dinner for their anniversary to the Bahama Breeze restaurant and had an excellent family dinner. It's a fun restaurant to go to with the live music and the Caribbean atmosphere and food.

My parents brought their little Maltese , so even Max (the dog) had a great time. He loves playing with the little dog. They are hilarious together because she is so little and he is so big. He lays on the floor and allows her to crawl all over him. She is mischievous, so the two became partners in crime. Max opened the refrigerator door and was eating the ham with little Lexi standing by watching. I wish I could have caught it camera. We have no idea how he opened the refrigerator door. We were all sitting in the living room watching t.v. when we heard a crash in the kitchen and there was Max with the plate of ham on the floor. Then later, he opened the lid on the trash can and got out a piece of foil with food on it and a paper plate for Lexi. He dropped a plate on the floor in front of her and he went under the table with the foil. They played tag in the backyard, the funny thing was he couldn't catch her.

Between the kids and dogs, we laughed a lot and had a great time.

Mommy Overload

Sometimes I think being a stay at home Mom is more stressful than working. The morning starts with trying to get the kids out of bed on time and mediating between the two kids who are at each other's throats every waking moment they cross paths through out the day. My children and dog are driving me up the wall. It has become so difficult to get everyone ready for school and out the door on time to get them to school and the dog has been having more anxiety issues than normal lately. This morning my son refused to get out of bed because I turned the light on. I turned the light on because he wasn't getting up and I told him, if he doesn't get up I am going to turn the light on. The funny thing is they have no clue why we get upset with them when we are repeatedly telling them to get out of bed, then we are rushing them to get ready and then driving fast to get them to school on time so I don't have to go in and sign him in for being late to school. I am half tempted to get a glass of water and dump it on him, because I'm tired of repeatedly telling him from 6:30 to 7:00 everyday to get out of the bed. He is 12 years old and goes to bed at 9:30, there is no reason why he can not get up in the morning. Even when I put him in bed 8:30 for misbehaving, he still doesn't get up on time.

I have no clue what a pampered dog can have anxiety issues over. He is stressing me out with his anxiety issues. He pulls his hair out and chews himself whenever I leave him. This morning when taking my son to school he pulled his hair out, because I wouldn't take him with me when I left. All week my son has been running late and I didn't have the time to take the dog with me to drop him off. When I came back from dropping him off at school, the dog had a pile of hair around him where he pulled the hair out of his legs for not taking him. He is on anxiety medication because he does this all the time when I leave him or when the kids leave him. I have to keep him in the same room with me all day to watch him. I would hate to do it, but if he doesn't stop soon I am going to have to get rid of him because he is killing us financially running him to the vet every couple of months. This month I couldn't go the doctor myself  to get my medication refilled because I had to take him to the vet for ear infections. He also digs his ears when he gets mad. Then he leaves scratches and they get infected and I end up taking him to the vet every 2 or 3 months for ear infections and his anxiety problems.

Today is one of those days where I just want to go back to bed and give up on today.

They Never Listen

I don't know what it is about my children, but they act like everything I tell them is a joke. This morning I told my son to take his lanyard out of his pocket and put it in his back pack, because he was going to lose it with the lanyard hanging out his pocket. He looked at me and gave me an annoyed look when I told him. Then when we get up to the school, he get's out of the truck and reaches for his lanyard. Well, it was gone and was no where to be found. I had to drive back to the house and look for it and back to the school again to look for it in the parking lot before dropping my daughter off at the bus stop. The lanyard with his school ID was gone. I am sure it will show up somewhere, but for now he had to go to school without his ID. Somehow, he will manage to try and tell me, it had nothing to do with it hanging out of his pocket and he doesn't know how he lost it.

Moving...

Moving is so completely exhausting. It took two weeks to pack it up and now it's time to unpack everything and put it all away. I feel like I have been run over by a Mack truck. I have been working on moving for three weeks nonstop and I can't wait for it to be all done and things can get back to normal.

Today I just feel like my body has run out fuel and all I want to do is climb back into bed and go back to sleep.   With move my schedule has just got more busy. Things weren't as easy as before, there's a whole lot more driving kids around. Between driving my son to school and picking him up, then dropping my daughter off at the bus stop then having to pick her up. It's not like the old days where I could just send them out the front door and the bus stop was across the street. Oh well, you do what you have to do and move on with it.

Then to add to change, I have never driven around where I am living now and am finding myself not knowing how to get anywhere, including the local stores. Thank God for technology. I find myself making good use out of the GPS on my cell phone, it get's me where ever I need to go.

One thing I am feeling much better about, is the move is good for the kids. The area is much nicer and has good schools where I won't have to worry about them as much. When I moved to where I lived before, it was a nice area. But, it is going down hill fast over there and things weren't looking too good. A fresh start is always a good thing.
